Chanukah 2019 - WATCH our video

The dreidel dropped but the memories keep spinning...

Chanuka is over and (finally!!) the smell of frying has dissipated but the children of Girls Town Jerusalem have such warm and fuzzy memories of all the festivities, feasting, and fun.

The Menorah Contest Winners were Rivka W. and Tami L, of Grade 6 for their adorable Pine Cone Menorah.

Special mention must go to the Fabulous Foursome from Grade 10 who put together a menorah from 10 agurot coins (equivalent to an Israeli penny). This menorah cleverly connected Chanuka and the traditional "gelt" or money, harking back to the days of the Maccabees and the coins minted in defiance of the Greeks.

As has been done in past years, the annual Chanuka contest encourages our students to view the recyclable products at hand in a new light. The girls are encouraged to repurpose all types of common things to innovate and create. At the same time, our students become aware of the need and value of recycling.
